Introduction
The Civil Rights Movement, 1955-1968, was a time of great change for our nation. Movements during this time period aimed to end racial discrimination against African Americans and establish suffrage in the southern states.
It was a hard time. Segregation existed everywhere: schools, restaurants, buses, even drinking fountains. Protestors faced violence and arrest. Leaders emerged, bringing strength and solidarity to movements. Through this webquest, you will choose one prominent person from this time period and further examine his or her life and impact during the Civil Rights Movement.
